On January 27th, McClure Mavericks will bid farewell to our beloved Cafe McClure matriarch, Lynn Lobdell. Ms. Lobdell has been at McClure for 21 years and in her time as a Maverick, she has nurtured thousands of students through their middle school years. Going above and beyond the call of duty of nourishing our students and providing a positive, safe place for them to eat and socialize, Ms. Lobdell has mentored, monitored, guided, inspired, advised, danced with, and cheered on many a middle schooler in her beloved Cafe McClure. She is an enthusiastic pillar of McClure's community and will be greatly missed. If you want to wish Ms. Lobdell goodbye, provide a favorite picture or story, and/or wish her well in her retirement, please sign our online card for her at https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/iQPtI4BW before January 25th.

FYI for interested folks: Private screening of Hidden Figures on Mon, 01/16/17 to benefit Techbridge, a non-profit that provides STEM programs for under served girls and their families in public schools
Looking for an inspiring way to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this year? Join us at a private screening of HiddenFigures, the incredible new film based on the true, untold story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson, three brilliant African American women mathematicians who worked at NASA and helped to put John Glenn into space.
There will be no more inspiring way to watch this film than among an audience of young girls in Techbridge's STEM programs, as well as inspiring women leaders and mentors from a variety of Seattle-based STEM companies and organizations. Whether you are a parent, child, advocate, or ally, viewers will be inspired to lift up all young people, especially girls, to meet these ongoing challenges.
Starring award-winning actresses Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe, the movie is generating Oscar buzz around the world. A panel and a chance to meet these emerging young scientists and engineers will follow the movie screening.
Here's the invite.
A panel following the film will include women from Boeing, Blue Origin, and other STEM companies, as well as a Techbridge girl and UW engineering student.
